Lois Kam Heymann

Lois Kam Heymann, a leading authority in Auditory Processing Disorders, is a speech -language pathologist with over 30 years experience working with children who have listening, hearing and learning challenges. As a sought after speaker, she has presented hundreds of in-service workshops, seminars and conferences, sharing her knowledge and techniques with parent groups, school systems and speech therapists. Recently Lois has begun training therapists in India, Dubai and Puerto Rico.  Lois was previously on the faculty of the State University of New York (SUNY), New Paltz and presently on the staff at Mercy College.

Lois is the author of The Sound of Hope: Recognizing, Coping with and Treating Your Child’s Auditory Processing Disorder. The book is a parent guide to the importance of listening skills development in children birth to 8 years old. Rosie O’Donnell wrote the foreword detailing her personal experience working with Lois who diagnosed Rosie’s son with Auditory Processing Disorder. Lois has also developed listening-language apps for the iPad.

From July 2010 through October 2014 Lois was the Director of The Shelley and Steven Einhorn Communication Center at Center for Hearing and Communication in New York City, NY. She is currently a consultant to CHC, performing evaluations and providing on-going training and supervision to the Communications Department staff.

Lois’s focus and mission is to share her philosophy, techniques and methods with parents, therapists and teachers around the world.

Lois has been a consultant to Suburban Speech Center since 2010.
